BRANCH 2019 AGM 19th February Calling Notice

Initial Calling Notice – You are invited
to the UNISON East Lothian Branch
Annual General Meeti
ng on
Tuesday, 19th of February 2019 in the Large Hall of the Town House, Haddington starting at 5:30pm.Catering and refreshments will be available in the Buffet Room from 5pm.
The AGM is an excellent opportunity to find out more about what your Branch representatives have been doing over the previous year and to help shape the direction of the union for the year ahead.
It is also an opportunity to meet other union members from across the Branch, to discuss and debate
the unions polices in East Lothian and raise issues of concerns to you.
As with previous years, we hope to hold a Panel Debate with Councillors representing the 3 Political Groups on the Council. This will be held immediately following the AGM business. This is
an excellent opportunity to ask the Panel Members questions on the impact the budget will have on you as employees and the services we offer the communities in East Lothian.
The AGM will ratify any elections that are required for each of the Branch Officer positions and the election of Stewards. Nomination Forms have been sent with this newsletter. If any member requires additional forms, please contact the Branch Office. All completed Nomination Forms must be received at the Branch Office by 12 noon Monday 7th of January2019.
For Branch Officer Positions that receive more than one nomination, an election will be held by Postal Ballot. Members will receive ballot papers and statements from candidates should an election be required. Members may also wish to submit Motions to the AGM for debate and decision by members. The Motions must be submitted in writing, signed by the Proposer and Seconder and be received at the Branch Office no later than 12noon on Monday 21st  of January2018.
In addition to elections, Motions and receiving reports from Branch Officers, the AGM will also consider a financial report from the Branch Treasurer, agree the organisations the Branch should
affiliate to and any other competent business
UNISON is committed to ensuring equality within the union, therefore if members have any disability access or dependent child care needs, please contact the Branch Office to arrange support which
can be funded from the Branch accounts. Please encourage other members from your local workplace to attend and I look forward to seeing you all on the 19th of February 2019.
